GrowFlow—an all-in-one business management and compliance solution for cannabis wholesalers and retailers—uses Candu to communicate important updates to their users via personalized in-app announcement banners. The easy-to-digest, dismissible banners are highly accessible; GrowFlow’s Candu-created in-app UI educates customers about key regulatory deadlines plus the latest updates regarding support availability and product release notes.
The first challenge GrowFlow wanted to tackle: communicating key regulatory compliance changes with their Oklahoma users so they could complete a required training session before an upcoming deadline.
Zach, CTO at GrowFlow, didn’t want to pull the engineering team away from their tasks to create various one-off announcements for their users. Prior to Candu, they would have used Intercom for announcements—but due to the urgency and importance of this type of communication, they needed something more prominent.
The GrowFlow team launched a simple-but-noticeable announcement bar that indicated the number of remaining days users had to complete their mandatory training. This drove urgency, provided users with a link to learn more, and gave them a place to sign up (per their product type). VP of Design Jenny ensured it was eye-catching while maintaining a cohesive, on-brand experience.
The GrowFlow team decided to allow users to temporarily dismiss the announcement for 24 hours, but it would reappear periodically based on their compliance status. By sending data about a user's training status to Candu, GrowFlow could display targeted announcements for relevant users; for others, the UI stayed the same.
Newly empowered, Jenny went on to create additional banners—including user alerts related to emergency support availability during holidays, as well as product release information. Candu’s content scheduling enabled Jenny to create the banners in advance so they could launch or disappear on schedule. This streamlined the design and go-live process without interrupting engineering workstreams.
